The work is executed remotely by working virtually with our MENA onshore teams and sometimes may require travel to MENA EY offices.The opportunityEY works with a range of Financial Services institutions (e.g. Banks, Asset Management companies, Lending and Financing institutions, etc.) to provide consulting services in the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) space by leveraging its expertise in the local sector as well as global knowledge. Consulting services in Risk Management can range from providing Internal Audit Services, reviewing and enhancing existing risk management framework and practices, to supporting implementation of new regulatory requirements.This opportunity is within Consulting Service Line, where the role is focused on providing Internal Audit services to Financial Services institutions. The ideal candidate would have experience of working in a large bank or asset management company's head office in their Internal Audit unit, having been involved in conducting reviews in one or more of the following areas:
  • Credit Risk Management
  • Commercial Banking or Corporate Banking
  • Consumer Banking
  • Asset Management
  • Banking Operations
The role holder will be working with clients (Financial Services institutions) as part of various projects. Initial engagements will be in relation to Internal Audit. However, in due course the role holder will also be involved in other risk management related projects which will span areas such as Financial and Non-Financial Risk/Operational Risk Management, Governance and Compliance related services.Your key responsibilitiesYou'll be responsible for working directly with clients. In the Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) consulting space, you would play a critical role in performing internal audit related services, bringing expertise and experience to support clients in achieving their objectives, identifying potential risks, and identifying opportunities for improving their internal controls and operations. The key responsibilities would include:
  • Planning: Responsible for developing the audit plan, including identifying the objectives and developing the audit program.
  • Execution: Leads the execution of the audit plan, including conducting interviews, reviewing documentation, and testing controls.
  • Data Analysis: Responsible for analyzing data to identify potential issues, trends, or anomalies and to support audit findings. Also, responsible for analyzing large data sets, using statistical and analytical tools to derive insights and develop recommendations.
  • Communication: Communicates the audit findings and recommendations to the client's management team, highlighting any deficiencies or areas of improvement.
  • Report Writing: Responsible for preparing the audit reports and summarizing the findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Quality Assurance: Responsible for ensuring that the audit work is performed in accordance with the International Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IIA Standards) and the client's internal audit methodology.
Furthermore, you would lead project teams, manage client relationships, analyze data, ensure quality of project deliverables and keeping projects on track. Your key responsibilities would include:
  • Project Management: Responsible for managing complex projects end-to-end, which includes defining project objectives, developing project plans, managing budgets, resources, and timelines, and ensuring high-quality project deliverables within defined scope, timelines, and budget.
  • Client Relationship Management: You would be the main point of contact for clients, managing client expectations, building relationships, and providing regular updates on project progress to Engagement Manager and Engagement Partner.
  • Team Management: As part of the projects in progress, you may be responsible for managing a team of consultants and analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure high-quality work and successful project outcomes.
  • Business Development: You would identify new business opportunities and build relationships with potential clients.

  • Demonstrate technical capabilities in performing an internal audits, including planning, execution, data analysis, communication, report writing, process mapping, project management, and quality assurance.

  • Strong project management skills to manage complex projects end-to-end, including managing budgets, timelines, project teams and client coordination both in-country and offshore/remotely.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts and recommendations to clients clearly and concisely.
  • Strong leadership skills to lead project teams and manage client relationships effectively.
  • Deep understanding of the banking industry, including industry trends, regulations, and competitive landscape.
  • Ability to focus on details ensuring high-quality work and accurate analysis.
  • Highly adaptable with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage changing priorities, and quickly adjust to new project requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
To qualify for the role, you must have
  • Bachelor's degree and approximately 6 to 8 years of related work experience in the banking sector or experience of executing related projects in a consulting firm.
  • An internationally recognized professional auditing related qualification, such as CIA, CISA or equivalent would be preferred but not mandatory.
Ideally, you'll also have
  • Experience of working within or with banking and asset management companies.
  • Knowledge of credit underwriting processes and commercial/corporate lending activities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain technical content to non-technical customers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint) and willing to learn firm-used technologies.
  • Produces consistent quality work products/deliverables for which he/she is personally responsible.
  • No material adverse findings from internal or external inspections that are directly associated with his or her role/responsibilities.
  • Understands delivery center role expectations and supports the engagement team to deliver exceptional client service.
  • Demonstrated project management, teaming, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Timely and effective resolution of problems to keep projects on track, including escalation to senior management as necessary.
  • Effective organization and time management skills while working on multiple projects.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to client site overseas as necessary.
