The focus of this position is directed towards portraying a strong and positive brand image of Forman Christian College to all internal and external stakeholders including potential and current students, parents, alumni, faculty, employers and corporate sector, local and international policy makers and donors. The HoD works closely with the Chief Marketing and Outreach Officer (CMO) for strategic planning to promote the Forman brand.
He/she is be responsible for supervising and directing members of the Marketing and Communications team by assigning tasks, facilitating interdepartmental and external communications, and ensuring successful goal accomplishment.Responsibilities:
Make the annual Marketing and Communications plan for the institution.
Develop and manage the university's marketing and communications strategies that support the objectives of administrative and academic departments, and academic programs.
Oversee the use of the FCC brand and ensure consistency of identity.
Ensure effective internal and external communication for administrative and academic departments and key stakeholders including students (both current and potential), alumni, donors, faculty and staff.
Collaborate closely with administrative and academic departments, as well as student societies, to ensure that all communications and marketing materials reflect the university's mission and image.
Provide direction on capitalizing the use of websites and social media, ensuring timely, relevant, and appropriate messages.
Collaborate closely with the university's media/advertising agency responsible for advertising and admissions publications.
Advise and supervise in the creation of digital, video, audio and print content.
Supervise production of print publications, particularly those for image building and admissions.
Keeping a record of all print, digital and electronic media coverages.
Develop a huge bank of giveaways for a cross section of audiences.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external audiences, particularly print and electronic media; generate content for media.
Oversee the hiring and managing of external vendors as needed e.g. advertising agency, printers, etc.
Oversee recruitment, hiring, skills development and evaluation of Marketing and Communications Office staff members.
Lead a team of marketing, communication, and design professionals; develop performance objectives and reviews.
Oversee budget allocation and management for the office.
Oversee and manage the websites of FCCU, including their updating and developing.Qualifications / Skill and Requirements:
16 years equivalent education with 10 years relevant work experience
18 years equivalent education with 8 years relevant work experience
Degree in communications, marketing or a related discipline is preferred
Proven work experience in a similar role.
Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with communications technologies.
Understand principles of copywriting, graphic design, layout, and publishing.
Experience of optimizing the usage of social media platforms and social media marketing.
Impeccable copywriting and copy-editing abilities.
