The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) plays a crucial role in providing high-level administrative and clerical support within a healthcare setting. This position requires advanced knowledge of medical administrative processes, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to coordinate care across multiple services to ensure a seamless patient experience.Key Responsibilities:Schedule and coordinate appointments, follow-ups, and procedures for patients using advanced scheduling software and protocols.Monitor, manage, and update patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems to ensure accuracy and compliance with privacy regulations.Serve as the first point of contact for patients, families, and providers, delivering excellent customer service both in person and over the phone.Verify insurance coverage, process authorizations and referrals, and coordinate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve scheduling conflicts.Manage incoming calls, emails, and messages efficiently, prioritizing urgent requests and ensuring timely responses.Assist healthcare providers with administrative tasks, including documentation, data entry, and report preparation.Handle complex patient concerns and inquiries with professionalism, escalating issues when necessary.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and support continuity of services.Provide training and guidance to junior medical support assistants as needed.Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations at all times.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent; an associates degree in healthcare administration or a related field is preferred.Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a medical office, hospital, or healthcare setting, with at least 1 year in an advanced or lead administrative role.Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and scheduling software (e.g., Cerner, Epic, Meditech).Strong understanding of medical terminology, insurance processes, and patient confidentiality requirements.Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.Proven customer service and problem-solving abilities.
