The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has nine community-based field sites across Pakistan (including five in Karachi) and focuses on research for the betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that caters to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.
The Aga Khan University (AKU) has led seminal research studies in maternal, neonatal and child health that have contributed to the understanding of disease etiology and contextual interventions for resource limited settings. Through its long-standing partnerships with VITAL Pakistan Trust and SINA - Health, Education & Welfare Trust, AKU has the unique opportunity to conduct a large portfolio of research projects that leverage the expansion of an integrated digital platform to marginalized and low-middle-income communities in Karachi, Pakistan. The focus of GADAP project make use of longitudinally captured digital data in a real-world implementation setting, thus enabling the possibility of answering strategically important MNCH and nutrition related questions in a rapid and cost-effective manner.
This is a short-term contractual position.Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to:
review medical records of patients and extract the information relevant to the study
contact potential parents and explain the purpose of the study over the phone
arrange and coordinate clinic appointments
provide any other logistic support that may be needed for the project
report to supervisor for any other additional task(s).Requirements:
You should have:
minimum Matriculation. Intermediate with additional nursing or related knowledge will be preferred
at least one year of relevant experience working in hospital / research facility
t he ability to communicate and instruct volunteers in multiple languages like Urdu/Sindhi/Punjabi
good communication and interpersonal skills
the ability to learn quickly and follow instructions
the ability to speak and understand job related English and Urdu
strong MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
