- Independently drafts and reviews contracts, engages with internal stakeholders, negotiates directly with counter parties and seeks mutual agreement accordingly.
- Provides legal advice to personnel at all levels of the business on existing and new business arrangements.
- Provides legal advice over all aspects pertaining to any new strategic initiatives and ventures including investments, new business lines etc.
- Assists in streamlining processes and procedures pertaining to key risk areas such as AML, CTF, export controls and sanctions, data protection, anti-bribery and anti-corruption etc.
- Engages in training of relevant business personnel (both informal trainings and structured programmes) on legal developments, contract management, policies and procedures owned by or supported by the Legal function, and other relevant areas.
- Identify legal risks associated with new products, business models, or partnerships, and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
- Assist the company secretary in board related matters;
- Conduct legal research on emerging regulatory and commercial issues affecting the fintech space.
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations that impact the business and prepare internal briefs or action items accordingly.
- Bar at Law/LLM/LLB Degree with at least five (05) years working experience in an in-house legal team or law firm.
- Knowledge of contract, corporate, litigations and intellectual property laws. Knowledge of telecommunication laws is a plus.
- Strong writing skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking skills and ability to research.
- Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as experience in stakeholder management.
